ADAM Manager 6.6: a closer look at migration tracking

With version 2026.2 of ADAM Manager (Manager 6.6), a new feature allows you to track the progress of migrations required during version upgrades.

The aim is to enable administrators to immediately identify any migrations that still need to be carried out and to prevent any omissions from being discovered too late.

Why implement migration tracking?

Throughout the lifecycle of ADAM Manager, certain version upgrades require IT teams to manually run migration scripts.

The migrations to be carried out are listed in the documentation, within the changelog for each version. Until now, however, ADAM Manager had no mechanism to directly verify whether these migrations had actually been applied.

A missing migration might therefore only be detected at a later stage, making it more difficult to diagnose and resolve the problem.

Version 2026.2 therefore introduces a new monitoring mechanism.

Automatic monitoring of migrations to be carried out

ADAM Manager now tracks the execution of migration web services.

When a migration remains to be carried out, a red banner appears directly on the administrators’ home page to notify them.

An alert banner notifies the administrator when one or more migrations are still pending.

This alert therefore enables the situation to be identified as soon as you log into ADAM Manager, without having to wait for a potential fault to occur.

View pending migrations

From the alert banner, the administrator can click on ‘View pending migrations’ to open a new window listing the migrations still to be carried out.

These are displayed in the order in which they are to be applied, from the oldest to the most recent versions.

The ‘Pending migrations’ window allows you to identify the migrations that still need to be applied and the order in which they will be executed.

From this window, the administrator also has direct access to the Help API. Once all migrations have been applied, the application is automatically reloaded.

What happens to other users?

To prevent ADAM Manager from being used whilst the required migrations have not yet been carried out, standard users can no longer access the application until the necessary migrations have been completed.

Access to ADAM Manager for standard users is temporarily blocked when a migration is still pending.

Once the migrations have been completed, the application can once again be used as normal.

New Web Services to facilitate diagnostics

Version 2026.2 also introduces new Web Services in the ‘Maintainer’ category.

These are specifically designed to facilitate analysis by 4D CONCEPT Support when a problem arises during a migration or whilst the application is running.

Two new Web Services are available:

GET /ws/v1/migrations/history

This Web Service allows you to view the history of migrations carried out, along with their execution status. Parameters allow you to filter the results by target version, a specific migration or a status.

GET /ws/v1/migrations/health

This web service provides an overview of the migrations that have been executed, organised by version, along with their latest status.

This information can be particularly useful to aid diagnosis in the event of a problem during a version upgrade.

What’s next?

This new feature represents a first step towards improving migration management in ADAM Manager.

Ultimately, the aim is to move towards the automatic execution of migrations, combined with a monitoring interface that allows their progress to be tracked in real time and further reduces the need for manual intervention by IT teams.
